Works are carried out under License No. 184-GIN dated 21.12.2022, with the aim of studying the prospectivity of Jurassic deposits.

The area of the licensed block is 476.64 km2.

Administratively, the Severny Ozen area is located within the Karakiya and Mangystau districts of Mangystau Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The regional center, Aktau, is located 130 km southwest of the area, while the city of Zhanaozen is situated 20 km to the south.

The nearest settlements are the villages of Bostan and Kyzylsai, which directly adjoin the southeastern part of the area.

The licensed block is adjacent to the northern part of fields with proven commercial oil and gas potential — Uzen and Karamandybas.

As part of the work program implemented under the GIN, 3D CDP seismic field surveys covering 401 km2 were completed, followed by the processing and interpretation of seismic data.

Based on the results of the 3D CDP seismic surveys, potential non-structural (lithological) traps were identified in Jurassic deposits.

At present, negotiations are underway between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and NC KazMunayGas JSC regarding the signing of an Exploration and Production Contract for the purpose of drilling two exploratory wells in the Severny Ozen area.

The subsoil user is NC KazMunayGas JSC. KMG Barlau LLP is planned to be engaged as the Contract Operator on the basis of an Agreement between NC KazMunayGas JSC and KMG Barlau LLP.
